Clearing your browser cache

Most browsers enable caching so that pages load faster. If the page doesn't refresh properly you will not see the newest page. (If you are one of my students and you are not seeing the new lesson, then the browser is showing you an older cached page.) Here is how to force it to reload and show the lastest version of the page:

First try this:

PC: Hold the control key and clicking the refresh icon on the tool bar.

Mac: Hold the command key and click the refresh icon on the tool bar.

If that fails to load the new page, you need to empty the browser cache. Each browser does this a little differently:

PC - Internet Explorer

  1. Go to Menu > Tools
  2. Choose Internet Options
  3. Choose the General Tab
  4. Choose Temporary Internet Files
  5. Choose Delete Files
  6. Click OK to empty the cache.

Mac - Safari

Open the Safari Menu and choose Empty Cache. Click OK.

PC - Netscape

  1. Open Tools from the menu bar
  2. Click on Edit
  3. Choose Preferences
  4. Click Advanced
  5. Click Cache
  6. Click Clear Disk Cache
  7. Click OK to empty the cache.

Mac - Firefox

  1. Open the Firefox menu and choose Preferences
  2. Choose Privacy, then click the arrow by Cache.
  3. Click the Clear button
  4. Click OK
